QAMISHLI, Syria(North Press) – From January to December of 2022, Turkish border guards killed 46 Syrians including two women and five children in various areas near Turkish border, Violations Documentation Center in North Syria (VDC-NSY) revealed on Sunday.
The center said in a report Turkish border guards also injured 901 civilians including 36 children and 40 women during 2022.
According to the VDC-NSY monitoring, 542 individuals, including 103 children and 67 women, have been killed by the Turkish border guards since the start of Syrian war in 2011 up to the end of 2022.
The total toll of those wounded by the Turkish border guards while trying to flee their dire condition seeking better future in Turkey or farmers working on their lands, or people in towns and villages near the border situated on border has reached 2246 until Dec. 31, 2022, according to the center.
An IDP from Deir ez-Zor, east Syria, was killed on Dec. 5 by Turkish border guards’ fire while trying to have access into Turkish territory from Idlib, northwest the country.
