AANES hands over 34 ISIS children to Russia

The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) has handed over 34 orphans from families of ISIS mercenaries to Russia, according to an official return document and protocol contracts signed by the Russian side with the Autonomous Administration in the city of Qamishlo.

According to ANHA, the handover took place during an official visit of a Russian delegation headed by Commissioner for Children’s Rights of the President of the Russian Federation Anna Kuznetsova to the city of Qamishlo, and their meeting with officials of the AANES at the Center for Foreign Relations this afternoon.

The protocol was attended by the Co-chair of the External Relations Department, Abdul Karim Omar, and his two deputies, Fener Al-Gait, Abeer Elia, and a member of the administrative body in the department, Sanaa Daham.

The protocol was also attended by the deputy chairperson of the Women’s Commission in the Cizire (Jazira) region, Avin Qafo and Belqis Hamandi.

ANHA reported that the handover process followed a lengthy meeting between the two parties, which preceded the press conference regarding the handover process, which was attended by dozens of local and international media outlets.

During the press conference, the two parties confirmed that the handover of children was a result of a humanitarian situation.
