Thousands of Afrin residents demonstrated in Aleppo countryside, demanding to return to their villages and homes after they were forced to flee due to Turkish attacks, shelling and ground incursions, which led to Turkish control of the city of Afrin in March 2018 and the accompanying humanitarian crisis, and the suffering of the people of Afrin, who 70% of them were forced from displacement Their numbers were estimated at 350 thousand, and they are still prevented from returning.
The demonstration raised slogans denouncing human rights violations in Afrin and the various areas subject to Turkey in northern Syria, and the administration gave a speech at the Star Amina Dinkley conference in which it accused Turkey of supporting terrorist organizations, and that it continues to pursue a policy of displacement and demographic change, and hinders opportunities to achieve peace and stability in the region.
The Turkish attack on the Afrin region (January 20 – March 24, 2018) caused a humanitarian tragedy, and led to entering the entire region in a state of chaos, which will have many consequences. The city was known for its high level of stability and low ethnic tensions. This was greatly exacerbated by the Turkish intervention, as it was transformed by the Turkish attack into a combat zone and security chaos, as the attack exacerbated the humanitarian conditions and led to the displacement of most of the residents of the areas that witnessed military operations.
