The parents of girl Sara, who was killed by a sniper on the Turkish border west of Tall Abyad city , north of Raqqa, on her return from school, called on international community to hold Turkey accountable for killing children and attacking the region.
Six-year-old girl, Sara Refa’at Mustafa, was killed by a sniper in her head on the border while she was returning from school in her village of Tal Fender west in Tall Abyad, killing her after being evacuated to national hospital.
“My daughter was in first grade , on her return from school, the Turkish occupation army stationed on the border snatched her. Turkey does not differentiate between the young and the big,” said Refa’at Mustafa, Sara’s father.
“But unfortunately, here in Syria, everyone is silent and no one cares about the children and the evidence is that my daughter was killed by the Turkish occupation state,” Refa’at Mustafa said if a child was killed outside Syria, whole world would condemn it.
“What is my daughter’s fault,” said Fatima Rasool, child Sara mother. “She was a little girl. What was her fault? She was returning from school and targeting her from the border.”
Fatima was surprised by the “international silence and silence of human rights organizations about what the Turkish occupation state is committing crimes against children and daughters are one of victims of these violations.”
“Our children are deprived of education because of Turkey’s violations. Turkey’s goal is to drive us out of our villages, but we are steadfast and we will never allow them to do so,” Fatima said of her fear of sending her other children to school for fear of being targeted again.
At the end of their conversation, Sara’s parents called on the international community and human rights organizations to break their silence and hold Turkey accountable for its criminal act.
