One person was killed and another wounded by Turkish border guards north of Raqqa in northeastern Syria while attempting to enter Turkish territory.
The victim was trying to cross with his brother from Tal Abyad (90 km north of Raqqa), where the border guards shot them directly, killing him and injuring his brother.
Turkish gendarme attacks have been repeated in the context of its security tightening and the construction of a barrier along its 911-kilometer border to prevent “Syrian refugees fleeing civil war from entering Turkey,” resulting in civilian deaths and injuries.
