The Yazidi organizations in Europe and Syria have accused the Turkish forces of “systematic displacement”, “killing” and “arrest” of Yazidis in the Syrian region of Afrin during the Turkish invasion in March 2018.
The statement was signed by four organizations, Izdina Foundation, Yazidis Union in Afrin, Yezidi House on Jazeera , Yazidi gather in Syria, a number of Yazidi community individuals and dignitaries. He appealed to international community and its organizations to carry out their duties to protect the population, stop the threat of invading the cities of Syria again, because that would mean destruction, and devastation.
The statement said that Yazidis have suffered from control of Islamic militant groups in the region since late 2012, where their villages were targeted and violations were monitored such as systematic displacement of Yazidi village in Afrin city in June 2017 by militant factions known as “Free Army, Systematic violations and killings of civilians were reported targeting Islamic factions of Yazidis villages in Ras al-Ain in 2013.
The statements said the level of violation was raised till January 20, 2018, the Turkish army carried out a military operation in the Afrin area under the name” Olive Branch “in alliance with radical Islamic factions. This campaign led to displacement 30,000 Yazidis from their villages and towns, Old people were kept in their homes, where a number of them were kidnapped and killed and rest forced to convert to Islam as well as looting and theft of their homes and expelling their owners and giving them to families of armed foreigners from the region.
“The destruction of religious shrines has been deliberately destroyed and stolen by armed men,” statement said.
The statement spoke of several cases of violations, which were transmitted through means of social networks show ridicule their mockery for Yazidis and their religion and commit civilians to publicize their Islam.
The statement pointed out that ” crimes and violations that are taking place in Afrin area is sufficient reason to sound alarm of risk, because of recent Turkish threats to enter East Euphrates areas in cooperation with same Syrian military factions that control Afrin and practices daily violations against the population”
