Afrin area Armed factions prevent return of residents from Talef village in Afrin to their homes

Turkish forces and armed Syrian factions continue to prevent residents of Talef village ” belonging to Jandaris, 10 kilometers away from Afrin, from returning to their homes and property under reason that the village is a “military zone”.

The village of Talef has about 50 houses, but only 5 families settled in vicinity of the village. After occupation of the area, 10 families of Arab component from Gauta displaced persons were resettled in the village. Their number was about 800 people to continue demographic change plan condemned by the Turkish forces and those factions, and confirmation of their continued attempts to implement the controversial plan, and contrary to international law and norms.

It is known that this village has historical specificity for its inhabitants and general area of Afrin. The village of Talef extends to 400 years and has been inhabited by some families since the 18th century. This village is first school teacher in Afrin region, Khoja Afdi Ashi, In 1890, as well as Shaukat Na’asan, one of the founders of first Kurdish political party in Syria, also the first teacher of “Najah Suleiman” since 1958, bringing together a picture with former Syrian president Shukri al-Quwatli.
