64 Kurdish civilians arrested in Afrin
Turkish-backed militants arrested 64 civilians in many areas of Afrin region during the past days. Arrests mostly target the homes of civilians after storming them, vandalizing them, arresting the civilians, and looting their belongings.
According to official statistics, the number of detainees in Afrin alone since the beginning of 2023 has reached 339 persons, incl 15 children. At least 98 of them are in urgent need of medical intervention due to the poor condition of the arrest centers.
VDC confirms that it is in contact with many families of the detainees and that all arrests carried out in areas controlled by the SNA and HTS . Most of them are carried out illegally and arbitrarily, in violation of human rights, as the detainees have no right to hire lawyers.
