36 organizations close to the Kurdish National Council accuse Turkey of committing war crimes in Afrin

Condemned 36 Kurdish organizations close to the Kurdish National Council of the Syrian opposition in Istanbul, the Turkish authorities through their agents in Afrin arrest leaders in Afrin area , demanding violations cessation and their immediate release.

The statement accused “the armed factions of the Provisional Government of Syria and coalition”, which is “the Kurdish National Council part of it” and the Turkish government of committing violations and inhumane practices of indiscriminate kidnappings for money, theft, armed robbery, seizure of houses and property and forcible displacement of people.

It also accused the Turkish forces for arrest of “Mohammed Ali Reza,” an 80-year-old , Kurdish National Council member and Hussein Ibash arrest, a member of the Central Committee of Kurdistan Democratic Party, also the president of the Kurdish National Council in Afrin “

The statement condemned the “arbitrary crimes and arrests” and held the Turkish government responsible for their detention and called for their release and release of all other detainees / who are more than two thousand according to Statistics Center for violations Documentation in northern Syria vdc-nsy to follow them here.

The statement also called on the international community and international human rights and humanitarian organizations to intervene to stop “Turkish war crimes in Afrin.”

Statement of civil society organizations

In recent times, the armed factions of the Syrian interim government, the National Coalition of Revolutionary Forces and the pro-government opposition have increased frequency of violations and inhumane practices of indiscriminate kidnappings in order to collect ransom, robbery, armed robbery, appropriation of houses and property, Their property is to displace remaining population clinging to their land.

On 30/3/2019 armed elements at the entrance to Afrin city arrested the national figure , Mr. Mohammad Alireza , 80 years old, a member of local council of the Kurdish National Council in Syria and handed over to political security and according to his health was released immediately and completed investigation with him the next day.

On 31/3/2019, they also arrested Mr. Hussein Ibash, a member of the Central Committee of Kurdistan Democratic Party – Syria  (KDP) and the head of the local council of the Kurdish National Council in Syria from his home in Sharan town and he still arrested at moment of writing this statement.

We in civil society organizations mentioned below condemn these crimes and arbitrary arrests of Kurdish citizens in Afrin region, especially the symbols and national figures in the Kurdish political arena in the region. We also hold the Turkish government responsible for their detention and demand their release. We call upon the international community and international human rights and humanitarian organizations to intervene to stop these practices and inhumane violations and to open safe corridors for return of forcibly displaced persons and to ensure the international protection of Kurdish areas in the Kurdistan region of Syria in general.
